Getting here:
This spectacular beach marks the end of Teluk Pandan Trail which is located some an hour of jungle hike from the Park Headquarters. Alternatively, you can hire a local boatman at the beach of Teluk Assam to bring you here.

Description:
Often regarded as Bako's most beautiful beach, Teluk Pandan Kecil is pretty much the main reason visitors toiling the 2-1/2 kilometre Teluk Pandan Trail from the Park Headquarters at Teluk Assam. The view of the beach from on top of a hill near the trail end is simply tantalising. In great weather conditions, you can enjoy a breathtaking bird's eye view of the turquoise green ocean and the golden sands.

During my visit, there were already a number of visitors frolicking under the sun on the warm sandy beach. One or two of them even were seen swimming in the water. The sun was shining so brightly that I thought of bringing sun lotions for the day. I did not swim here since I preferred to enjoy the great view. In the far left distance is the sight of Bako's most known landmark, the Sea Stack. The view of this famous natural monolith carved by the ravaging ocean for millions of years is not the best from the best due to the distance. One is better off taking a tour boat like I did to enjoy the sights of the Sea Stack and other spectacular rock formations off the beach.

Throughout the beach, you can witness how erosions have carved the boulder rocks into interesting formations. The most unique attribute is probably the many tide pools shaped in almost perfect circles as if a mammoth had left its footsteps millions of years ago. As expected, the tide pools will retain sea water during low tides, hence you may be able to see tiny ocean creatures trapped in the water holes. Also you should check out the "bullet" holes on the vertical surface of many rocks by the beach. They make you wonder the greatness of natural erosions that could eventually create such a masterpiece.

During your visit, there might be a boatman or two who will stop by the beach, expecting to fetch visitors back to Teluk Assam for those who do not feel like making the 2-1/2 kilometre trail back to the Park Headquarters. I strongly recommend taking the boat trip, obviously because the journey will pass by the area where the famous Sea Stack is located. The fee is minimal at RM30 per boat. To me, it was quite a steal.
