Getting here: The trail entry begins at the mangrove forest just a few minutes outside the Park Headquarters and ends at the beach of Teluk Paku. There are clearly marked signboards at the split path near the mangrove forest, each to Telok Paku Trail to the left, and Telok Pandan Trail to the right.
Description: This is one of the shortest trails in Bako National Park, apart from Tg Sapi Trail. The actual length of this trail is just about one kilometre although you will need to add a few hundred metres if you are departing from the Park Headquarters on Lintang Trail.
This trail is mostly dominated by towering forest canopies with hardly any views of the ocean nearby. It rises at some elevation above the mudflat down below but the ascend is rather mild and can easily be negotiated by almost everybody. There are numerous wooden planks erected along the way to pass over a number of trenches.
To me, the main reason for attempting the trail was the opportunity to spot the colony of proboscis monkeys that inhabit this area. I did not come back empty handed as I managed to spot a number of these elusive monkeys which are endemic to Bako National Park. Nonetheless, getting a clear view of them is hard work and almost impossible due to the thick forest. Not to mention the proboscis monkeys have the habit of keeping a safe distance from the wandering eyes of the human beings.
Right before the trail end at the beach of Teluk Paku, there is a resting pavilion erected for visitors to catch a breather.
